Visiting an Elder People’s Home with Christmas Spirits (Japan)

On Sunday, December 15, the Yokohama 87 Club Pack and  Beaver Colony visited an Elderly Home in Totsuka (Yokohama), located at a neighborhood activity area of the group, and enjoyed an exchange of Christmas spirits together with residents of the home.

This is a small home for about 20 people, and it was the first time place to visit by the scouts. They have performed a Christmas story play, sang a song of Christmas, a supporting dance and song for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games event, "Paprika", and a song of "Small World" with sign language.

The elderly residents of the home were very pleased with the visit of the young children, and they also enjoyed imitating hand gestures in sign language songs with action and sang Christmas songs together with the scouts. (You can see the video of "Paprika" which was performed at the group’s Christian meeting after the visit.)

Social contact with the elderly is a service to the community in which even young children can take action.

Kamakura Beach Clean 2019

Every year in September, Kamakura Group 2 conducts cleaning service of a beach where 600,000 people come in the summer season.  This is eighth year of service activity.

Kamakura is an ancient city surrounded by history and nature, and located 50 km south of Tokyo.  We love this city and its beautiful coast.

After the cleaning service, cub scouts studied about environment protection program, “Zero Plastic Campaign” of Kanagawa, and about SDGs.

Scouts from Incheon Federation have visited Yokohama, Japan, from January 6 to January 9, 2017.

They have enjoyed the home stay with Japanese families and meeting with Japanese scouts and exchanged their friendship.

SAJ BSA-FEC(Japan) Kanto Area Pinewood Derby 2016

Pinewood Derby(PWD) and Day Camp program for scouts of BSA and SAJ was held at Tama Hills in Kawasaki, Japan, on April 2, 2016.

Through this joint program for scouts of U.S. and Japan, they build up friendship and exchange of cultures through the activities.

4月2日(日）、川崎の多摩ヒルズにて「BAS & SAJ Pinewood Derby 決勝関東大会」と「Day Camp」が開催されました。

米国連盟極東地区（日本）と神奈川／埼玉の日米スカウトが参加。楽しいイベントでの活動を通して、スカウトの友情を深めます。

カブを対象としたDay CampとPWDの同時開催は、今年が初めての試みですが、神奈川や埼玉などでは、毎年PWDに参加するだけではなく、他の交流プログラムもBSAのスカウト達と実施しています。

This time of year, at end of year, scouts go out the town and call for donation to the UNICEF.  

Cubs and Beavers from Yokohama 87 have participated with this activity this year also and received many worm support from those people.
